Product Overview
A 1.8 metre TV aerial extension lead. One end is a standard PAL (Belling-Lee) male plug, the other a PAL female socket, so it joins onto an aerial cable you already own and adds another 1.8 m. That is the job it exists for: the wall plate is in the wrong corner, the TV has moved to the other end of the cabinet, or the lead supplied with the set-top box turned out to be a metre short. The socket end also makes it a longer lead in its own right wherever the equipment end needs to be female.
The cable is 75Ω RG6, quad shielded — a step up from the thin 3C-2V single-shield flylead most televisions are supplied with, with four shielding layers around the centre conductor instead of one. In a domestic run that matters most where the cable passes near mains wiring, a power board or a router. It is also a heavier cable, so it holds a gentle curve behind a set instead of taking a sharp kink.
We are not going to oversell it: digital free-to-air either decodes or it does not, and a passive cable amplifies nothing. If your reception is marginal the fix is the antenna or an amplifier, not a lead. What this gives you is length without introducing the weakest link in the chain.
Three things worth checking before you order. First, this is a cable, not an adaptor — a lot of the cheapest “extension” listings are a bare barrel connector with no lead at all, which is why some of them look so cheap. Second, one end is a female socket; if you need a plug at both ends to run from the wall plate into the television, that is a male-to-male flylead and a different part. Third, both ends are straight — if you need the connection turned through 90° at the back of a wall-mounted set, that is our right-angle flylead instead.
