F Type Plug to PAL Socket Adaptor — F Screw Coax to TV Aerial / Antenna, Nickel

Quick Specs & Highlights

  • F-TYPE MALE screw plug on one end, PAL (Belling-Lee) FEMALE socket on the other. The F end screws into the F socket on a wall plate, splitter, dish or set-top box; the PAL end accepts the ordinary push-fit aerial plug on your TV lead
  • Lets an ordinary aerial lead finish onto an F-type screw socket — satellite, pay-TV, MATV or any RG6 outlet — without cutting or re-terminating anything
  • The usual reason people buy it: the outlet, splitter or dish output is a threaded F socket, and the lead you want to plug into it finishes in the standard Australian PAL aerial plug
  • One-piece rigid adaptor — no cable, no lead, nothing to power and nothing to configure. It simply changes the connector
  • Nickel-plated body throughout, with a knurled centre grip band so the F thread can be done up finger-tight without pliers

Product Overview

This is the small rigid adaptor that lets an ordinary aerial lead reach an outlet, splitter or set-top box whose connector is a threaded F socket. One end is an F-type plug — the externally threaded barrel with a solid pin standing proud of a white insulating disc — and the other is a PAL socket, the open cup with a slot down its side and a small hole in the centre. Screw the threaded end onto the F outlet and push your aerial lead into the other end.

The job it does most often is getting a standard television lead onto satellite, pay-TV or shared-antenna hardware. Wall plates, splitters, LNBs and head-end equipment used for those installations are nearly always fitted with an F socket, because a screw fitting stays put, while aerial leads, televisions, video recorders and set-top boxes sold in Australia use a PAL plug. This adaptor bridges the two without re-terminating the cable. It is equally at home on a bench, where an aerial patch lead needs to reach a tuner or meter that only offers the screw fitting.

The F end is a plug and the PAL end is a socket. The F end is the threaded barrel with the pin in the centre, and it screws onto the F outlet. The PAL end is the open cup with the slot, and the plug on your aerial lead pushes into it. If you hold your lead in one hand and look at the last connector on it, this adaptor is the right one when that connector is a push-fit PAL plug and the thing you are trying to reach has a threaded F fitting sticking out of it.

Please check you want this gender. Four adaptors in this family look almost identical in a photograph and only one of them will do any given job. This listing is F-TYPE MALE to PAL FEMALE. If you need the opposite — a PAL plug to push into an aerial socket on a TV or wall plate, with an F screw socket to accept the F connector already fitted to your coax — then we sell that part too: look for our PAL Plug to F Type Socket adaptor instead, because it is a different part and this one will not do the job. All-socket and all-plug versions exist as well, for joining two leads together, and those are different again. Reading the two ends off the photographs above is the quickest check: the threaded end with the pin sticking out is the F plug, and the open cup with the slot is the PAL socket.
