Right Angle TV Antenna Flylead 1.8 m — PAL Male to Male, 90° Plug, 75Ω Coax
Quick Specs & Highlights
- Turns the aerial connection through 90° at the TV end, so a wall-mounted or cabinet-backed set can sit flat instead of being held off the wall by a lead sticking straight out
- 1.8 m long — the standard wall-plate-to-TV run, long enough to reach without a loop of spare cable behind the set
- PAL (Belling-Lee) male plug at BOTH ends: one straight, one right angle. Fits a standard TV aerial socket and a standard wall plate
- Genuine 75Ω 3C-2V coaxial cable, single shielded — the standard domestic TV aerial specification for digital free-to-air
- Moulded strain relief at both ends, so the cable flexes at the boot instead of at the solder joint
- Takes the strain off the socket — a lead hanging straight out of a slim panel levers on the aerial port every time the set is moved, and a short right angle turns that pull into a bend
- Works with any digital TV, set-top box, PVR, DVD recorder or FM/DAB tuner using a standard PAL aerial connection
- Completely passive — no power, no amplifier, no configuration
- This is a cable, not an adaptor — many of the cheapest “right angle” listings are a small connector on its own, with no lead
- Both ends are MALE plugs — this is not a male-to-female extension lead, so it will not lengthen an aerial cable you already have
- Black. 12-Month Warranty
Product Overview
A 1.8 metre TV aerial flylead with a right-angle plug on one end. A normal antenna lead leaves the back of the television dead straight, and the plug itself is around 30 mm long before the cable even starts to bend — which is why a wall-mounted set so often ends up sitting proud of the bracket, or a TV pushed back into a cabinet will not go the last few centimetres. Turning the connection through 90° at the set puts the cable flat against the panel and lets it run down the wall instead of into it.
Both ends are standard PAL (Belling-Lee) male plugs, the connector used on virtually every Australian television and wall plate. One end is straight, one is the right angle. In practice the angled end goes into the television and the straight end into the wall socket, though nothing stops you running it the other way if your wall plate is the awkward one.
There is a second, quieter reason people fit these. A plug plus a stiff coaxial cable hanging out of a slim panel is a lever, and it works on the aerial socket every time the set is nudged, dusted or pulled out. Taking the run through a short right angle close to the body moves that pull off the port. The moulded boots at both ends do the same job lower down — the cable flexes where it is designed to, not at the joint.
The cable is 75Ω 3C-2V coaxial, single shielded — the ordinary domestic TV aerial specification, and the right cable for a normal digital free-to-air run from a wall plate to a TV, set-top box, PVR or tuner. For a long run through a roof space alongside mains wiring, or to feed a distribution amplifier, a quad-shield RG6 lead is the better tool and we would say so.
Three things worth checking. This is a cable, not an adaptor — many of the cheapest right-angle listings are a bare 90° connector with no lead at all. Both ends are male plugs; to make an existing lead longer you need a male-to-female extension, a different part. And the angle is on one end only.
