3.5mm Stereo Plug to 2 x RCA Sockets Adaptor Lead | 10cm Y Cable
3.5 mm Stereo Plug to 2x RCA Sockets — 10 cm Adaptor Lead
Quick Specs & Highlights
- One 3.5 mm stereo plug. A 3-pole TRS male plug that goes into any standard 3.5 mm headphone or aux socket.
- Two RCA sockets. Red and white female sockets that accept an ordinary pair of RCA plugs.
- 10 cm lead. A short flexible tail rather than a rigid block, so the weight of a cable is not hanging off the socket and nothing fouls the port beside it.
- Stereo, not mono. Left and right both travel on the single plug; the sockets are colour-coded red and white the usual way round.
- Moulded strain relief. Ribbed relief where the cable enters each of the three connectors.
- Black, 0.1 m. WES/Daichi order code AL642.
Product Overview
Which way round it goes. The single black plug is the male end: it pushes into a 3.5 mm socket — a phone or tablet headphone jack, a laptop or PC output, a car stereo aux input, the input on a set of powered speakers or a soundbar. The red and white ends are sockets, so a pair of ordinary RCA plugs pushes into them. That is the whole part: a short tail that converts a pair of RCA plugs into one 3.5 mm plug.
What people use it for. Most often it is the last 10 cm of a longer run — you already own an RCA lead, or a console AV lead whose red and white audio plugs are spare, and the thing you want to plug into only has a 3.5 mm socket. It also gets used the other way in a rack: a turntable pre-amp, CD player, mixer or hi-fi output already on RCA plugs, feeding a small powered speaker or a computer line-in.
Check the gender before you order — it is the one thing that catches people out. This lead has RCA sockets (holes) and a 3.5 mm plug (a pin). If what you need is the opposite — two RCA plugs going into a 3.5 mm socket — that is a different lead and we stock it separately; message us and we will point you at the right one. If you would rather have no cable at all, we also sell the same connection as a rigid one-piece adaptor.
What it is not. It is not a composite AV lead: there are two RCA sockets for stereo audio, not three, and no yellow video connector, so it carries sound only. It is not a 6.35 mm (quarter-inch) adaptor and it is not 2.5 mm. It does not split one source into two — the left and right channels are separated, they are not duplicated. If you are unsure whether it suits your setup, send us a message with the make and model of both ends and we will check it for you.
