Product Overview
This compact converter puts anything with a yellow, white and red composite AV output onto a modern HDMI television, monitor or projector. The three RCA sockets are built into the box, so the AV lead that came with your console or player plugs straight in, and a single HDMI lead carries the picture and stereo sound to the screen.
A 720P / 1080P slide switch on the side lets you pick the output your TV is happiest with. PAL and NTSC are both supported, so it works with the PAL consoles and players sold here in Australia as well as imported NTSC machines.
It needs USB power – and the cable is in the box
The converter is not powered by your console or player. A 50 cm USB to mini-USB power cable is supplied – the same plug as a PS3 controller charging cable – and plugs into any ordinary 5V USB power source: a USB port on the TV, a phone charger, a wall adaptor or a power bank. A USB wall adaptor is not included.

What it does, plainly
It converts the composite signal to HDMI at 720p or 1080p. It carries your console’s or player’s own picture to a modern screen, but it does not add detail that was never in the original – a standard-definition game or tape stays standard definition. There is no 4K.
Check before you buy
- You need the AV lead from your console or player (yellow, white and red plugs) – it is not included.
- A 1.5 m HDMI cable is included to connect the converter to your TV.
- USB power is required; the 50 cm cable is included, a USB wall adaptor is not.
- It converts one way only, composite AV to HDMI. It is not an HDMI-to-AV converter.
- Works with composite AV sources such as retro consoles (compatible with the N64, SNES, GameCube, Wii, PS1, PS2 and original Xbox through their standard AV lead), VCRs, DVD players and camcorders.
