Quick Specs & Highlights

- Two RCA plugs at the other, red and white, for the right and left inputs
- All three ends are plugs – male throughout, not sockets
- 10 cm (100 mm) – the shortest in the range, with no slack at all
- Moulded plugs with strain relief on a slim, flexible lead
- Fully passive – no power, no batteries, nothing to set up
Product Overview
This is the short one. One end is a standard 3.5 mm stereo plug; the other splits into two RCA plugs, red and white, for the right and left channel inputs on an amplifier, receiver, hi-fi or powered speakers.
At 10 centimetres it is deliberately barely a cable at all – for a small DAC or dongle sitting on top of the amplifier, or a back panel where a headphone output needs to become a pair of RCA plugs in place. If your source sits further off, we also list this same cable in 1.2 metre and 3 metre versions.
Check the ends before you buy
Every connector on this lead is a plug. The 3.5 mm end goes into a headphone output, and the two RCA ends go into the RCA input sockets on your amplifier. If you need the opposite – a 3.5 mm socket to plug your headphones or an aux cable into – that is a different item and we list it separately.
What you can use it for
- A phone, tablet or laptop into an amplifier or hi-fi that only has RCA inputs
- A small DAC, dongle or sound card sitting directly on the amplifier
- A TV or projector headphone socket into a stereo in the same cabinet
- Any older amp or bookshelf system that predates a 3.5 mm aux input
Please read before buying
- It is not a microphone lead. A headset that carries a mic uses a 4-pole TRRS plug; this is a 3-pole stereo cable and will not pass microphone audio.
- It cannot convert digital audio. If your TV only has an optical or HDMI audio output, this lead will not help – you would need a digital-to-analogue converter first.
- The two RCA plugs are a stereo pair (right and left), not a single subwoofer connection.
Within that, it does one job properly: it turns a headphone socket into a pair of RCA plugs, right at the back panel.
