- This is for the ORIGINAL Xbox only. It will NOT suit an Xbox 360; it will not suit an Xbox One; it will not suit an Xbox Series X or S — those consoles have ordinary USB ports and need no adapter at all. It is also not a controller-to-PC adapter. This lead gives you a USB socket to plug a device into; if what you want is a lead for an Xbox controller to plug into a computer, that is the opposite cable, and it has a USB plug on it instead. It turns a controller port on the front of the console into a standard, full-size USB socket: those ports are USB underneath, and were simply fitted with a different plug shape, so this cable does the physical and electrical conversion and hands you an ordinary USB-A socket to work with.
The length is the point. Adapters like this are almost always sold at 70 to 80 centimetres, which leaves whatever you have plugged in dangling against the front of the console. This one is 1.8 metres — more than twice as long — so a keyboard can sit on your lap, and anything bulky can rest on the floor or the shelf instead of hanging off the front panel.
It is a plain passive lead: no chip, no drivers, nothing to install. It carries the USB connection through and nothing more. What the console then does with the device you plug in depends entirely on the console and the software you are running on it — that part is yours to sort out, and this cable makes no promises about it.
