F Type Plug to RCA Socket Adaptor — Screw-On Coax to Phono, Nickel

Quick Specs & Highlights

  • ‘F’ type MALE plug on one end, RCA (phono) FEMALE socket on the other. The F end screws onto the threaded coax connector found on satellite and pay-TV wall plates, splitters, modems and LNBs; the RCA end accepts an ordinary phono plug
  • Lets an RCA-terminated lead reach a screw-on coax socket — the usual job on a satellite or pay-TV outlet, an RF splitter, a cable modem or a CCTV video run — without cutting or re-terminating anything
  • The usual reason people buy it: the outlet you want to reach has a threaded F socket, and the lead you have finishes in an RCA plug
  • One-piece rigid adaptor — no cable, no lead, nothing to power and nothing to configure. It simply changes the connector
  • Nickel-plated body throughout, with a knurled grip band and hex flats at the F end so it can be done up firmly by hand

Product Overview

This is the small rigid adaptor that lets a lead finishing in an RCA (phono) plug reach a threaded ‘F’ type coax socket. One end is an F plug — the hex-flatted collar with a thread cut on the inside of it and a fine pin standing on the axis — and the other is an RCA socket, the stepped shell with a white insulating ring around a small open bore. Screw the F end onto the coax outlet and push your RCA plug into the other end.

The job it does most often is getting a phono-terminated lead onto screw-on coaxial hardware. Satellite and pay-TV wall plates, LNBs, RF splitters and combiners, cable modems, modulators and a great deal of CCTV and test gear all present a threaded F socket, while the lead in your hand very often ends in an RCA plug. This adaptor bridges the two without re-terminating the cable, and it is equally at home on a bench where a patch lead needs to reach a meter or a monitor.

The F end is a plug and the RCA end is a socket. The F end is the collar with the internal thread and the pin in the middle, and it screws onto the coax outlet. The RCA end is the shell with the white ring and the hole, and your phono plug pushes into it. If you hold your lead in one hand and look at the last connector on it, this adaptor is the right one when that connector is an RCA plug and the thing you are trying to reach has a threaded coax socket.

Please check you want this gender. Several adaptors in this family look almost identical in a photograph and only one of them will do any given job. This listing is F TYPE MALE to RCA FEMALE. If you need the opposite — an F socket to accept a threaded coax plug, with an RCA plug on the far end — then this is not the part, and we do not currently stock that one, so please do not order this and hope. If what you actually need to reach is an ordinary Australian aerial socket rather than a threaded coax one, we sell that adaptor: look for our F Type Plug to PAL Socket version instead. Reading the two ends off the photographs above is the quickest check: the hex collar with the thread inside it and the pin standing in the centre is the F plug, and the shell with the white ring and the hole is the RCA socket.
