Product Overview
This is the set of four small rigid adaptors that covers the joins people actually run into behind a television. It carries one of each: an F-Type plug to PAL socket, a PAL plug to F-Type socket, an RCA plug to PAL socket and a PAL plug to RCA socket. Between them they convert an aerial connection in either direction to an F-Type screw fitting or to a phono fitting, without re-terminating a single lead.
Every adaptor in this kit is identified. That is the point of it. Four rigid adaptors of this kind look the same in a photograph and very nearly the same in the hand, and only one of them does any given job — so a kit that simply shows four pieces of metal leaves you to work out which is which by trial and error. Our photographs name each one by its connector direction, and the list below does the same, so the right adaptor can be picked out before anything is plugged in.
What each one does. The F-Type plug to PAL socket puts an F-Type screw lead into an ordinary Australian aerial socket. The PAL plug to F-Type socket takes an aerial lead across to an F-Type screw input on a satellite receiver or wall plate. The RCA plug to PAL socket lets a phono-terminated lead reach an aerial socket. The PAL plug to RCA socket lets an aerial lead reach a phono input on a tuner or receiver.
What it is not. These are passive adaptors. They change the shape of a connection, and nothing else — there is no splitting, no powering and no processing of the signal going on inside them. If a picture is poor before the adaptor goes on it will be the same afterwards, and any listing in this category that suggests otherwise is telling you a story.
One honest limitation. Nearly every competing listing in this category prints a 75 ohm figure on the strength of nothing much. Our supplier does not publish an impedance for these parts, so we are not going to print one either. They are the standard nickel-plated coaxial adaptors used on domestic aerial work, and that is as far as we will claim.
