1.5m Component Video Cable | 3 x RCA to 3 x RCA Gold Plated 75 Ohm OFC
1.5m Component Video Cable — 3 x RCA to 3 x RCA, Gold Plated 75 Ohm OFC
Quick Specs & Highlights
- 1.5 metre component video lead — 3 x RCA plugs at both ends (male to male)
- Carries component video only (Y / Pb / Pr, also written YUV or YPbPr) — green, blue and red, colour-coded at every plug
- No audio — this is the three-plug video lead. If you also need sound, run a separate red/white stereo pair
- Not a console cable. Both ends are plain RCA plugs, so it does not plug into a PlayStation, Xbox or Wii — those need their own console adaptor
- Three individually screened 75 ohm coaxial cores with a double shield — the correct impedance for component video
- 99.99% oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors and gold-plated contacts on all six plugs
- Heavy-duty electric blue jacket with a moulded strain relief where the cable enters each plug
- Connects DVD and Blu-ray players, set-top and PVR boxes, projectors and older HDTVs that use RCA component sockets
- 12-Month Warranty
Product Overview
A 1.5 metre component video lead with three RCA plugs at each end. Component video is the best analogue picture most DVD players, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and projectors can give — noticeably sharper and cleaner than the single yellow composite plug — and this lead is built to carry it properly rather than as an afterthought.
Please check the sockets on your equipment before ordering. This lead has three RCA plugs on each end. It is designed to run between two devices that already have a row of green, blue and red RCA component sockets — a DVD or Blu-ray player into a television, a set-top box into a projector, and so on. It is not a console cable: a PlayStation, Xbox or Wii will not accept an RCA plug directly, because those machines use their own moulded multi-out connector and need a console-specific component adaptor. If you are cabling a games console, that adaptor is the part you want, not this lead.
It carries video only. Component video splits the picture across three separate cores — luminance on green and the two colour-difference signals on blue and red — which is why there are three plugs and not one. Sound travels on its own pair, so if your source and display are joined by this lead alone you will get a picture and no audio. Run a separate red and white stereo lead, or use the optical or HDMI audio path your equipment provides.
The three cores are individually screened 75 ohm coaxial with a double shield over the bundle. Impedance matters more on component than on ordinary composite video: the three signals have to arrive together and at the right level, and a mismatched or thinly screened cable is what produces soft edges, colour smearing or ghosting on a long run. The conductors are 99.99% oxygen-free copper and every one of the six contacts is gold plated, which resists the surface tarnish that eventually makes a nickel plug intermittent in a socket that is never unplugged.
The jacket is a heavy-duty electric blue with a moulded strain relief at each plug, and the plug barrels are ridged so they can be pulled out by the body rather than by the cable.
