Toslink Optical Splitter, 1 In 2 Out | Plug on Short Lead to Two Sockets

Product Overview

A passive Toslink splitter that takes one digital optical audio output and feeds it to two devices together – for example a soundbar and an optical Bluetooth transmitter for headphones, or an amplifier and a recorder. There is no power lead and nothing to configure.

It is built as a plug on a short lead: a standard square Toslink plug on a lead of about 12 cm runs into a small box (about 5.5 cm long) with two Toslink sockets side by side. The plug goes directly into the optical output of the source, so you only need two optical leads – one from each socket to each device. The short lead takes the strain off the source socket and lets the box sit just below or beside it.

How to connect

• Remove the clear dust cap from the plug and push it into the optical OUT of your TV, console, player or set-top box.
• Run an optical cable from socket 1 to the first device (for example a soundbar).
• Run a second optical cable from socket 2 to the second device.

Both devices receive the signal exactly as the source sends it. It splits the signal only – it does not switch, convert to analogue or boost anything. Because the light is shared between the two sockets, each output receives part of the original, so short leads give the best result.

Using it in reverse

It can also bring two sources into one optical input, but only one source can be switched on at a time. Two sources playing together will interfere with each other.
