RCA Y Splitter Lead — 5 Metres, One RCA Male Plug to Two RCA Male Plugs

Quick Specs & Highlights

  • All three ends are RCA MALE plugs. One plug on the long run, two plugs on the short split legs — this is not the 1 male to 2 female socket adaptor that dominates the cheap end of this search
  • Splits one audio signal into two — the usual way to feed both the L and R inputs of a subwoofer from a single mono sub-out, or to drive two amplifiers from one output
  • 5 metres from the single plug to the split — long enough to cross a room, so the subwoofer can sit where it actually sounds best rather than beside the amplifier
  • The two split plugs are colour-coded red and black so the legs stay identifiable behind the rack
  • Fully moulded black connectors with ribbed strain relief where the cable enters
  • Passive lead — no electronics, no power required. Nothing to plug in and nothing to fail
  • Slim, flexible black cable that sits flat and coils without kinking
  • Brand new, and this listing is for one lead

Product Overview

A 5 metre RCA “Y” splitter lead that takes one audio signal and delivers it to two inputs. One end is a single RCA male plug on a five-metre run; the other end divides into two short legs, each ending in an RCA male plug, one with a red body and one with a black body.

Check this before you order: every one of the three ends is a male PLUG. The most common thing bought by mistake in this category is the other shape — one male plug going to two female sockets, usually a short rigid adaptor. That part is for splitting a cable you already have. This one is a lead in its own right: it runs five metres and plugs straight into two inputs. The photographs show all three connector faces, and every one of them has a centre pin.

What it is normally used for. Most home-theatre receivers and amplifiers have a single mono subwoofer out, while a great many powered subwoofers have two line inputs marked L and R. This lead is the standard answer: one plug into the sub-out, two plugs into the subwoofer’s L and R. It is equally at home sending one source to two separate amplifiers or powered speakers, or feeding a second zone from a single output.

Why five metres. A subwoofer usually ends up in a corner or against the opposite wall, not in the rack. Short splitters force the subwoofer to live next to the amplifier, or force you to add an extension and another pair of connections that can work loose. Five metres is the length that normally crosses a living room in one continuous lead with no joins, and it is the longest rung we carry in this Y splitter range.

Which end goes where. The single plug is the source end — the sub-out, the tape-out, the line-out. The pair goes to the two destinations. The split sits at the far end of the run, so the two short legs land together at the subwoofer or amplifier rather than at the source.

A passive lead. There are no electronics inside it, nothing to power and nothing to configure. It carries an unbalanced line-level analogue signal, which is what RCA outputs on receivers, amplifiers, turntable stages, CD and DVD players, TVs and consoles produce.
