That is the whole installation — there is no AV lead to buy, no power supply to plug in and nothing to configure.
Most of these consoles are still connected over the yellow, red and white composite lead they shipped with, and on a modern set that analogue signal has to be converted by the television itself — which is where the soft picture most people remember comes from. This adapter does the conversion at the console instead.
Alongside the HDMI socket there is a 3.5 mm stereo audio output. If your television takes the sound over HDMI you can ignore it entirely; it is there for the cases where you want audio going to headphones, a soundbar or a pair of powered speakers instead.
It handles every display mode the console produces — PAL 576i, and NTSC 480i and 480p — so an Australian machine or an import both work. The interlaced modes are de-interlaced by the adapter itself, using motion-adaptive processing, rather than left to your television. Output is 1080p Full HD.
