This component video cable is the best way to get high-definition picture quality from your original Xbox using analogue connections. Rather than sending the entire video signal through a single composite wire, component video splits the picture into three separate colour channels (Y, Pb, Pr), resulting in a dramatically sharper and more colourful image. The cable also carries stereo audio through dedicated red and white RCA connectors.

Nearly the entire original Xbox game library supports 480p progressive scan through component, which alone is a major improvement over the 480i interlaced output of a standard composite cable. Around 50 games support true 720p resolution — titles like Halo 2 look noticeably sharper at this setting — and a handful support 1080i. You can enable supported resolutions in the Xbox dashboard under Display settings.

Compatibility Note: This cable is designed for the original Xbox (classic, 2001) only. It is not compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series consoles, all of which use different AV connections.
