About this item
This converter takes the standard AV signal from the console's AV MULTI OUT port, upscales it to 720p/1080p and sends picture and sound to your TV over one HDMI lead.
The plug sits on a short lead that runs to a small box with a full-size HDMI socket and a micro-USB power socket (marked DC-5V). The USB power lead is included – plug it into a free USB port on the TV, the front of the PS2 or any USB phone charger.
Compatible consoles
- PlayStation 2 – original (fat) and slim
- PlayStation (PS1)
- PlayStation 3 (via the AV MULTI OUT port)
It works with PAL and NTSC consoles, so Australian and imported machines are both fine.
How to connect
- Push the plug into the AV MULTI OUT port on the back of the console.
- Run an HDMI cable from the box to your TV.
- Connect the USB power lead to a TV USB port, the console's USB port or a phone charger.
- Select that HDMI input on the TV.
Picture
The picture is as sharp as a good AV connection, upscaled so HDMI TVs accept it. It does not add detail that was never in the game. Sound travels over HDMI; there is no separate headphone jack. It works one way only, console to TV.
