Product Overview
This adapter lets you play a Nintendo Wii with the controller you probably already own. One end is a PlayStation controller socket; the other is a short lead ending in the Wii Remote expansion plug.
How it connects
- Plug the adapter's lead into the expansion port on the bottom of a Wii Remote – the same port a Nunchuk or Classic Controller uses.
- Plug your PS1 or PS2 controller into the socket on the adapter.
- That is all. The Wii Remote now reports a Classic Controller to the console, and the game responds exactly as it would to Nintendo's own.
What you can play with it
- Virtual Console titles – NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Mega Drive, TurboGrafx and the rest
- WiiWare games
- Any Wii or Wii U game that supports the Classic Controller
- Takes any standard PS1 or PS2 pad, including a DualShock 2, which maps like a Classic Controller Pro
Please read before buying
- It plugs into a Wii Remote, not into the console. It is not a GameCube controller adapter and does not go in the console's GameCube ports.
- A Wii Remote and a PlayStation controller are both required, and neither is included. The adapter on its own does nothing.
- No rumble. The Classic Controller connection carries no vibration channel, so a DualShock will not rumble through it.
- No motion control or pointer. Those stay with the Wii Remote, so games built around waggle or the pointer are not playable on the pad alone.
- This is a gamepad adapter only. It is not for guitar, drum or other instrument controllers.
Within that, it does one job properly: it puts a familiar PlayStation pad in your hands for the Wii's back catalogue.
