Controller and Dance Mat Converter for the Xbox 360 | suits PS1 and PS2 Pads
Controller and Dance Mat Converter for the Xbox 360 — suits PS1 and PS2 Pads, with a Joypad / Dancing Mat Mode Switch
Quick Specs & Highlights
- What it does — lets a wired joypad, wheel, arcade stick or dance mat made for the PS2 or PS1 work with an Xbox 360
- Connections — three tails — a controller socket for a PS2 or PS1 pad, a USB plug that goes into the console, and a second full-size USB socket
- That second socket — a wired controller for the Xbox 360 plugs in there at the same time as your PS2 pad — it is what maps the controls across. See the compatibility note below
- Mode switch — marked Joypad and Dancing Mat on the side of the converter body
- Controls — all buttons are converted, and both analogue and digital modes are supported
- Vibration — vibration feedback is supported
- Two players — use a second converter for a second player
- Drivers — none. Nothing to install and nothing to configure
- Colour — black, with a green label on the converter body
- Condition — new, unused stock
- You need a wired controller for the Xbox 360, plugged into the converter at the same time as your PS2 pad. That is what maps the controls across to the console, so it stays connected while you play. A wireless pad will not do it — a play-and-charge lead carries power, not controller data — so if the only pads you own are wireless, this converter will not work for you. Nothing is included in the box but the converter itself: no pad for the console, and no pad or mat for the PS2. It will not suit an Xbox One; it will not suit an Xbox Series X or S. And note the direction: this puts an older pad onto a newer console. It is not the adapter for using a modern pad on a PS2, and it is not a controller-to-PC lead.
Product Overview
A converter that lets the controllers you already own for the PS2 or PS1 work with an Xbox 360. A pad plugs into the socket on one tail, the converter plugs into a USB port on the console, and the console reads it as a controller it understands. There is nothing to install.
The mode switch is the useful part. On the side of the converter body is a switch marked Joypad and Dancing Mat. Joypad is the setting for an ordinary pad, a racing wheel or an arcade stick. Dancing Mat re-maps the inputs for a soft dance mat built for the PS2, which is what makes an old mat usable on the newer console instead of sitting in a cupboard. Most converters of this kind only offer a pad or wheel setting, so the mat mode is worth having if that is what you need.
Please read the compatibility note before you buy. This converter has a second USB socket on it, and that socket is not spare capacity — a wired controller for the Xbox 360 plugs in there at the same time as your PS2 pad, and it is what maps the controls across. That is how this generation of converter works. If you do not have a wired pad, or your pads are all wireless, this is not the right item for you and we would rather you knew that now than after it arrived.
Compatibility — please read before you buy. Fits: suits a console from the Xbox 360 family — the original, the S and the E. On the input side it takes wired pads built for the PS2 or PS1: standard joypads, racing wheels, arcade sticks and soft dance mats.
