5 Metre Figure-8 Power Lead — Australian Mains Plug to IEC C7
A 5 metre figure-8 mains lead: an Australian two-pin wall plug at one end, an IEC C7 figure-8 socket at the other. The same lead a standard figure-8 appliance already uses, with the reach to get to a distant power point.
Check compatibility
Check the connector on your appliance before you order. A figure-8 socket has two round holes side by side, in a shape like the number 8. If yours has three holes in a clover or triangle pattern it is a C5 cloverleaf and this lead will not fit. If it has three holes in a squared-off D shape it is a C13 kettle socket, which is also different. The two-hole figure-8 is the one this lead mates with.
What it is not: it is not an extension lead and it does not convert anything — both ends are ordinary figure-8 lead ends, just further apart. It replaces a figure-8 power lead with a longer one of the same type, which is the tidier answer when the alternative is an extension cord doing the job a single cable could do.
Key product details
- Australian compliant & approved – RCM compliance mark on the plug, approved for Australian 240V mains
- 5 metres — nearly three times the usual reach. The standard figure-8 lead is 1.8 m, which assumes the power point is directly behind the appliance. This one does not.
- For outlets that are nowhere near the appliance. A wall-mounted television with the only power point at skirting height, a projector at the far end of a room, a console in a cabinet across from the socket, or a printer on the other side of a desk.
- IEC 60320 C7 figure-8 socket — the two-pin connector found on wall-mounted and desktop TVs, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, printers, monitors, soundbars, radios, DVD and Blu-ray players, cameras and battery chargers.
- Genuine Australian two-pin flat mains plug, moulded directly onto the cable in a low-profile round body. Not a US, UK or European plug, and not a travel adaptor fitted to the end of a cord.
- 0.75 mm² two-core, double insulated, rated 7.5 A at 250 V, black. Two-core unearthed, which is what a figure-8 appliance expects.
- Full-gauge conductor over the whole run. The 0.75 mm² core is the same gauge used in our standard-length leads — the extra distance is not bought with thinner copper.
About this item
Reach is the whole point of this lead. The figure-8 lead in the box is almost always 1.8 m, and that length assumes a power point sitting right behind the appliance. Rooms are rarely built that way. A television bracketed high on a wall, a projector at the opposite end of the room, a soundbar on a shelf, a monitor at the far side of a desk — in each case the cable that came with the unit falls a metre or two short, and the usual workaround is a power board or an extension lead trailing across the floor. At 5 m the appliance reaches the outlet on its own cable.
