Product Overview
This is an extension: it makes a 3.5 mm lead you already own 5 metres longer. One end is a normal male plug that goes into your device; the other is a female socket that your existing headphone or aux cable plugs into.
Five metres is a different proposition to a short extension. This is the length you buy when the seat and the socket are on opposite sides of the room – when the problem is measured in metres rather than centimetres.
What you can use it for
- Headphones from the television all the way back to the sofa or an armchair
- An existing aux lead that falls well short of a stereo, amp or powered speakers
- A wall-mounted screen or a ceiling projector down to where you actually sit
- Anything with a 3.5 mm plug – headphones, aux leads, powered speakers
Please read before buying
- This extends a lead you already have. Because one end is a socket, it will not connect two devices on its own – for that you want a plug-to-plug aux cable, which we also list.
- It is a 3-pole stereo extension. It will not pass microphone audio from a 4-pole TRRS headset.
- It is not an amplifier – it carries the signal, it does not boost it.
Within that, it does one job properly: it puts five metres between you and the socket.
Extension or cable? This is a 5 metre extension — 3.5mm plug one end, socket the other — for adding reach to headphones or an existing lead. A shorter one is the 1.8m extension. If both ends need to be plugs, you want the 3m aux cable or the 10m aux cable instead.
Still not sure? Use the Cable Finder — pick your console and it shows you the exact lead that fits.
