If you are still using the standard yellow composite cable that came with your PS2 or PS3, this component video cable is a significant upgrade. It carries the video signal across three separate channels (Y, Pb, Pr) instead of one, delivering a dramatically sharper and cleaner picture with richer colours and no colour bleeding. Two additional RCA plugs carry left and right stereo audio independently from the video signal.
On the PlayStation 2, component video unlocks progressive scan (480p) in supported games, and a handful of titles even support 1080i output. On the PlayStation 3, the cable supports resolutions up to 1080p full HD. The PlayStation AV Multi Out connector plugs into the back of the console and the five colour-coded RCA plugs connect to your TV's component video (YPbPr) and stereo audio inputs.
PS2 Setup Tip: To use this cable on a PS2, go to System Configuration (boot without a disc) and set "Component Video Out" to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr". This only needs to be done once.
Compatible with all PlayStation 2, PlayStation 2 Slim, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 3 Slim consoles sold worldwide. This cable is not compatible with the PlayStation 1 or PSOne.
